She likes to swing.

Last night, Jamie and I attended the wedding of friends, and we had a great time. The bride was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen, and the location was at a historical mansion on the Delaware River, which was gorgeous. Because we knew no one there other than the married couple and people in the bridal party, we sat with 8 middle-aged gay men from Brooklyn. One of them loved the laid back vibe of Philadelphia, and he asked Jamie if he wanted to smoke pot with him outside. Jamie told him he had to watch out for Johnny Law on the way home... leaving out the fact that he doesn't smoke.

Since we are now responsible parents, we chose to skip the after party at the hotel, though I definitely would have liked to have witnessed our new friends karaoke skills.

Still, we came home very late, so we had arranged for Brenna to sleep at my parents house for very first sleepover. We picked her up early this a.m. and my parents raved about how good she did. She didn't seem to miss us and slept great for them, so that was a relief.

We didn't do much after that. It was soooo nice to have no real weekend plans. Jamie's brother, Ryan, came over in the morning to visit, and after he left, we actually napped while Brenna napped. (When you have a baby, everyone advises you, "Make sure you sleep when the baby sleeps!" I think today was the first time we actually did that.)

But by mid-afternoon, we were all caught up on sleep with nothing to do. It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day, so we decided not to waste it. We put Brenna in a jacket and sneakers for the first time, and we went to try the baby swings at the park near our house.

Ella, Kara and Joe (I'm changing my brother-in-law's name to Joe; Bruce is just not working for me) came with us, and Ella loved teaching Brenna about the playground.

Brenna looked scared and shocked when we first made her swing, but she quickly loved it, especially after she saw how much fun Ella was having pushing her.

After trying to convince Ella that the nearby ice cream was not one when she stopped in her tracks, excitedly saying, "What the heck is that music? I know! It's an i-sceem tuck!" We eventually had to drag Jamie and Joe away from a game of bocce ball to go home and feed the girls dinner.

We might not get a perfect day like today again until the spring, but I do hope there are a few more days where we can visit the park. I had no idea she'd love the swings so much!
