4th of July

We are lucky to live in a quaint, suburban town that goes all out for the 4th of July. Everyone in our neighborhood has Independence Day parties because it is the place to be.

In the morning, we went over to our friends, Mike and Jackie's (who are due with their first baby in a few weeks). There we met Jen (also pregnant) and Ryan and their 1-year-old son Shea, and John and Christine and their 9-month-old son Joseph, and we all walked down to the parade.

Later, when Jamie had to go DJ, Brenna and I met Erin, Rob, the kids, my parents and neighbors at the park next to our house where there was a concert. Unfortunately, it was raining by then, but we tried to stay under a pavilion (hard with an active one-year-old who didn't mind getting wet and could see the playground).

We were so proud of Maura when she joined her best friend Riley and danced with the band in front of hundreds of people (she's usually very shy in front of strangers). It was awesome.

As you can see from the pictures, Brenna and Maura had matching outfits on, but we didn't plan it this time! I had no idea Erin had bought that dress for her. Gotta love Target.

After the concert, we went to Erin's house to wait for the fireworks. The view from her front porch couldn't be better. The girls played dress up, and then the show began. They were great.

It was quite a day. Brenna stayed up until 10:45!
