Mother/Daughter Valentine's Breakfast

Erin and I participated in a popular parish event today after the 9:00 Mass - the Mother/Daughter Valentine's Day Breakfast. It was held at the site of Maura and Brenna's future K-8 school, and Maura told Brenna all about the exciting school buses and uniforms, as we ate pancakes and donuts.

Two tables over, Erin and I admired a woman (who we happened to go to high school with) as she effortlessly handled her three little girls alone... her two little boys were with her husband. And, they were all better behaved than our two girls with two adults! We think she should start a course.

What a difference 8 months makes

My parents put Erin and I in kindergarten when we were 4-years-old, so we were both always the youngest students in our classes (by a year or sometimes even two years) throughout our school days. My mom always worried my maturity level in comparison to my classmates, and I never understood why.

Until now. Now that I have a child of my own, I can actually see what difference even eight short months makes. It's almost like Brenna knows that Bobby younger than her, and she's a big girl now!

I'm eight months older than Jamie. We could have looked like this 28.5 years ago!

Our Valentine's Day Photoshoot...

...gone wrong

We love Old Navy!

On Saturday morning, before our cousin Michael's fiance's (Jen's) shower in New Jersey, we hit Old Navy's huge 40% Kid and Baby Sale.

Brenna scored with: 2 dresses, 2 shirts, 1 bathing suit, 1 skirt, 1 pair of pants/shorts, 1 hat, 2 pair of shoes and 10 pair of socks. My favorite is the plaid skirt she got that matches her 2 cousins' shorts (above).

And, it all cost less than the 4 shirts I bought myself. I love the Kid and Baby Sale!

Even better, is that at the shower, Jen (the bride) announced she was pregnant, so I guess she should hit the Kid and Baby Sale, too :).

Playing hooky

Of course, I'm biased, but I think Brenna could be the smartest baby alive.

She had a 102 degree fever (from teething, probably) on Thursday afternoon, so her teacher called me to pick her up. I was reminded that I could not bring her back on Friday due to their 24 hour sickness-free rule.

So, Brenna gave me another 3-day weekend. It just so happens that all of her sick days are on Fridays.

And, this is how she spent Friday (when her temperature was a hot 99.4):

Hey, there, Sit-and-Spin!

According to Maura, the steps = a mountain

Climbing the mountain!

So ill, I can't stand it!

Hair Pulling Part 2

We have had a lot of "talks" with Brenna about the hair pulling, and it really seems to be working.

For Caitlin

Bobby says, "Cry me a river, Caitlin!"

A few minutes ago, my cousin Caitlin just sent me the following email (after I told her she was hysterical), "You know what I find hysterical? The blog. You know what I don't find hysterical? The fact that you haven't updated it in like a year. I miss it. And so does my mom, she said so. So update it!"

Okay, Katie! I promise to post at least one more before Jamie tells me I'm addicted to the computer and neglecting him.

Yum!!

Meal time for Brenna in our house is now like dining at Le Bec Fin.

I had no idea it was now okay to feed her things like cheese, Ritz crackers and graham crackers. I only learned this after spending time with moms of babies her age on Saturday. We were the last to know! Which actually is not surprising at all.

Why, Mom, I seem to have finished all of my Ritz. Might I have another?

Hair Pulling

About two weeks ago, Brenna's daycare teacher, Miss C., asked me if Brenna pulls hair at home. I told her yes, I guess, she does. She asked me what I was doing about it. I said, "I'm telling her no."

She continued to look at me, as if she wanted me to elaborate, and I continued to look at her silently. I don't know what she wants me to do, beat her? Have a serious talk with her at 8-months-old? Anyway, don't all babies pull hair?

She went on to tell me that Brenna cut a baby boy's head that day trying to climb on him, but considering he's older than her (and a boy), I turned to him and jokingly told him he needs to learn to defend himself.

Ever since then, almost every day, on the top of Brenna's daily report sheet it says, "Pulling hair again today."

I think they are crazy. If Brenna pulls hair, I've certainly never seen it.

I don't want to be one of those moms that think their child does no wrong and blames the teachers (I hate that), but seriously...hair pulling before a year?

Brenna, you are grounded!

New Friends

Yesterday Brenna got to play with so many different kids!

We started the day off by meeting other babies at a local church/indoor toddler play area.

Nicholas is a week and a half older than Brenna, Olivia (Lulu) is a week younger (and born at the same hospital!), and Ben will be one at the end of the month. Here are pics of the babies before Brenna fell over and cut her chin on a footstool...

It was really nice for both of us. The babies' moms were around the same age as me, and we plan to get together again in the near future!

We left to meet Camille at a bridal shop to see her try on her bridal gown for the first time. It was beautiful! Only 3 more months!

On our way home, we passed Erin and Rob's house, and they said that Brigid, Paul and Maggie (who is a month older than Brenna) were coming over, so later in the afternoon, Jamie and I took Brenna over to play with Maggie, too.

By the evening, though, Brenna finally had her BFF, Maura, alone for some serious playing. Now if that baby brother would just go find something else to do...

You gotta be kidding me!

Holy crap, the Giants beat the Patriots? I never thought I'd see the day.

Giants Win Superbowl XLII

Brenna, we'll give this one to Daddy. And, I must tell you, he cried. Yes, he did.

But, don't forget: We only cheer for the Giants when they are in the Superbowl, or they are playing the Cowboys.

I already have your next size waiting for September...
