summer, summer, summer time

We've been busy. Insanely busy. It is summer, we should just be laying around sipping lemonade, yet we have something to do all the time. Between work, Jamie's DJing, and my picture taking, it's been a hectic month, but very fun at the same time!

Brenna has been enjoying her summer. She has been busy playing, learning, dancing and enjoying the life of a one-year-old. Her most recent game with Aunt Kelly and Aunt Erin is to act out the Summer Olympics, which is relevent since the Beijing Olympics begin today (8.8.08). Maura is always from the United States, and she always wins gold. Brenna is always from China, and she always loses to the older American, of course.

I recently took Brenna to the mountain house with her cousins and Gram, for an All Girls (and Bobby) Get Away. Erin drove me and Brenna, and after trying to pack three kids and all their clothes and food and toys in a van, we forgot the freaking house keys. Yep, that's right, we had no keys, and we had to wait an hour and a half for Kelly and my mom to get there to let us in! We wasted time and stretched our legs by visiting a local arcade. Bobby was a big fan of the race car game.

When we finally got to the house, we hit the beach and pools. Brenna liked the water, but if I let go of her for a second, she'd be headed towards the nearest playground.

Pop in Florida, she got your nice email sent to Princess Brenna, and she tried to write back to you!

But her internet connection was only hit or miss up in the mountains.

After we returned from the mini-vacation, we had a day trip to Hershey Park with Jamie's side of the family. Everyone was there -the 3 of us, Grandma, Pop, Mike, Camille, Ryan, Courtney, Kevin, Jessie, Matt and Danny.

Brenna really wanted to love the Hershey characters, but she was a little bit unsure of them at the same time.

She thought if she crouched all the way down she might figure this guy out...

She loved the music and the people, and watching the roller coasters. Her dad and Uncle Matt even took her on a big kid ride.

She was a little unsure about that, too!

Overall, it was a great day, and Brenna loved her first amusement park!

She was such a good girl up until our Applebees dinner. By then she had had enough and wanted to eat the crayons, throw food on the floor, eat applesauce with her hands and yell. Sometimes I wish I could act like that when I'm tired. I'd act like that right now.

We have one more mini-vacation scheduled for a long weekend next weekend, but it's pretty much back to reality now.

Aunt Kelly's last day babysitting Brenna was yesterday, and she heads back to school herself next week. Brenna begins at a new daycare on Monday (2 days next week, and then full time the week after that). It's like preparing for back-to-school time in our house, and we have some shopping to do this weekend.

Jamie and I are a little nervous about Brenna's reaction to the new school/kids/teacher, but we love the owners, and we know that she'll do just fine. We're just really going to miss Kelly, but Brenna was very lucky to have had a special summer with her. She got to wear her pajamas until 9 am, go swimming in baby pools and big pools, play with her cousins every day, dance with her stuffed animals, visit the park, and (most importantly) be around family that loves her every minute of the day. She learned so many things in the past three months, and while she might not remember the details of the summer she was one, she will remember that there are family members in her life that love her very much, and I know she'll always feel safe and secure around them.

Thank you, Aunt Kelly, for making our lives easier this summer, and making Brenna's life happier!
